On behalf of the Australian Barley Technical Symposium (ABTS), I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to support and celebrate our 21st Symposium, being held at Crowne Plaza Adelaide from 12 – 15th August 2024. Starting with an optional pre-Symposium tour on Sunday 11th August.
Join us and network with 100-150 national and international delegates in a meeting representing all sectors of the Australian barley industry –agronomists, chemists, maltsters and brewers, research scientists, plant breeders, technical and marketing personnel, grain traders and barley growers.
The symposium theme is ‘Harvesting the potential of barley’, with sustainability threaded through the program to address our future industry needs at all levels from the grass roots ensuring barley is grown sustainability, to encouraging our young scientists and future industry leaders, and embracing new developments, technologies, and innovations that allow our barley to be processed sustainably
We look forward to seeing you in Adelaide!

Awards Submission
Are you under 35 or a student currently enrolled with an Australian University in Masters or PhD with relevance to the Australian barley industry? Then don’t forget to apply for the below awards!
- Barley Industry Travel Award to attend the 21st ABTS – $1,000 available for students (Submissions close Friday July 26th 2024)
- Barley Incentive award & Paul Johnston Memorial awards – both offering $5,000 towards travel and registration to an appropriate international barley conference
- Barley Incentive poster award of $500 for the best poster at the symposium
